| Brittle Bones (Osteogenesis Imperfecta) is the name given to a group of disorders characterised by an inborn liability to fractures. Some children have as many as 100 fractures in childhood, they happen extremely easily, from turning over in bed, to picking up a cup. The disease varies in severity, people with a milder form can usually lead a normal life, in severe cases sufferers are mostly wheelchair bound. | ||
| In 1971, the Brittle Bone Society was formed by a group of families and not long afterwards became a registered charity. Its aims are to promote research into the causes and treatments of Brittle Bones, and to provide practical support, advice and encouragement to parents and their relatives, | ![]() | |
| The Society constantly needs to raise funds to pay for the vital specialised equipment it provides, powered wheelchairs, typewriters, special beds, car adaptations, etc. | ||
| The Brittle Bone Society is solely dependent on donations and voluntary support. If you would like to help, please contact them at the following address |
