Cancellation Types are described according to the categorisation by Neil Donaldson in his excellent "The Postal Agencies of Eastern Arabia and the Gulf" (1975) and its "Supplement" (1994).

| QAT1/01 | Early airmail cover to UK. Postage is paid by 3 x KGVI 2As stamps of Bahrain (SG 54), cancelled DOHA cds (Donaldson Type 2) dated 12 OC 50. The cancellation is in the "dirty blue-black" to which Donaldson refers on p219. View. On the reverse, the senders (??) handstamp confirms that (postally) Qatar was reached via Bahrain. | QAT1/02 | Early surface mail cover to UK. Postage is paid by KGVI ½A and 2 x KGVI 1A stamps of Bahrain (SG 51 / 52), cancelled DOHA cds (Donaldson Type 2) dated NO 12 50. The cancellation is in the "dirty blue-black" to which Donaldson refers on p219. View It appears that in these early days the Doha Post Office did not have the same discipline as the more established offices .... on this cancellation the Day and Month are reversed from the cancellation in QAT1/01 | £ 20 Sold |

| QAT1/04 | Registered airmail cover to UK. Postage paid by BPA in EA QEII 12 As (SG50), cancelled 7 AP 56 (Donaldson Type 10) at the Umm Said office which had opened in February of that year. Note that the Registration label is inscribed BAHRAIN. This is contrary to Donaldson's note page 229 and may indicate that the Umm Said labels were not prepared/received in time for the opening of the Umm Said post office.
