Prestwick - Memories

Kay Bousquet (nee Lidster) writes from Toronto:

"Thanks for this opportunity to remember Prestwick!  I lived there just for two years: 1960/61. My father, Fred Lidster, was the manager of the Queens Hotel, on the Esplanade - I think it now is the Queens Nursing Home ?  Can anyone remind me of the name of the street that runs down the side of it ?

Prestwick was one of my most favourite places to live, and I, too, have a photo taken from my bedroom window during a storm, of the waves crashing over and flooding the esplanade!

Many G.I.s came into the hotel from the US airforce base, and I fell in love with all of them!  I wonder if anyone remembers Donald Lance Jordan?  Colonel Triolo, with his wife and little daughter Bonnie, were frequent visitors, also.

I've never been back, probably too late now. I immigrated to Toronto at the end of 1961, at age 17, but I have many happy memories of my time there. I still have a letter written by the Town Clerk, Mr Allan Inglis, recommending me to my future employer in Canada.

If you are still living there, enjoy!!  I miss the ocean so much, even though Toronto is a nice place to live!
If anyone remembers Kathy or the GIs she mentions, she can be contacted at kaybee244@yahoo.com.
