The good times in Ayr (1987-88)

Mario Lamont writes ....

With a mother from Ayr whom migrated to Brisbane, Australia in the late 1960's, as an 18 year old at the time I thought I would go back to mum's homeland for a stint and I had the pleasure to live & work in Ayr in 1987-88. I lived with my girlfriends family at the time, the J.Taylor's in Lochside Road who treated & looked after me like a son. I have many fond memories there but since returning to Australia have unfortunately lost touch with them. Through their help I managed to get a job working in the Gateway supermarket for 12 months which from memory was near the Auld Brig. Had some fun working there.

My memories of Ayr & Scotland are of friendly people whom in most cases would go out of there way to help a stranger, love a laugh and unfortunately the cold summer's & bloody cold winters (remembering that as an Aussie I wasn't use to this weather).

I really miss the place and plan to one day return to Ayr in the near future and catch up with family & the Taylor's.

If anyone there could at least steer me in the right direction to get in touch with the Jim Taylor family (Julie, Ruth & Barbara Taylor) in Lochside Road (presuming there still there hopefully) I would very much appreciate it, especially via email.
